Keystone International Livestock Exhibition
Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex
MAHA sponsors the Highland show at the Keystone International Livestock Exposition in Harrisburg, PA.
The Keystone International Livestock Expo (KILE) is held in early October at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg, PA. KILE is the largest livestock show in the East and features top notch animals from across the country. The MAHA sponsored Highland show is one of 13 major beef breed shows including several national contests. In addition to shows and sales, KILE also offers a vendor trade show, barbeque contest, livestock judging, showmanship seminars, and a North American Six Horse Hitch competition.
The Highland show will be held Saturday, October 9, 2021. Highland cattle are normally required to be in place Thursday morning and are released Saturday evening. The Open show consists of classes for Registered Breeding stock, Sovereigns and Steers (both crossbred and purebred). KILE awards ribbons, special awards and premiums. There is a separate Junior Showmanship division split into four age groups. Unique to KILE is the Supreme Champion Beef Pageant held in the Large Arena. The Grand Champion Female and Grand Champion Bull from each breed, including Highland, compete for top honors and significant prizes.
Highland cattle have been shown at KILE for over 20 years and have earned the respect of other livestock breeders at this major annual event. Whether spectating or exhibiting, it is a worthwhile experience.
